It’s been over two years since I posted on here.
My son just turned two. I haven’t posted since he’s been alive.

Just to let those that are interested know, I'm moving my daily (hardly) operations back to the blogger site.
WordPress is cleaner looking, but I've been having problems with it and I'm just not feeling it anymore. It's a bunch of little things. Options on my side of the blog have moved or disappeared with the template change, and I can't find them again. I've always had to manually set the timestamp because the default that I have not the life force to figure out has always been seven hours fast. The link options have been problematic, and I never could get them exactly how I would have liked them.
Long story short. I'm back on blogger. If you don't remember where it is or don't have the life force to mouse over to the side bar, just click here.

I'm not a friend of the beef log that you will find in holiday gift boxes. You know what I'm talking about. Those huge dense sausage looking things that people will slice and eat with crackers and cheese. Neither Shannon nor I, like them very much. For me, I just can't look past the massive fat content for something only mildly pleasing to the palate. Add in the fact that the meat log in question was turkey instead of beef, and you will understand why it still has not been eaten…at least by us. The one thing that I can't fully wrap my brain around is why we didn't just throw them away. Whatever the reason, they've sat in the little hutch in the kitchen since Christmas time.
Until yesterday…
The theory is one of the cats, who like climbing in and around the hutch in question, knocked the Turkey log onto the floor. What remained, by the time we got home, was about three quarters of the plastic wrapper and two very pleased looking puppies, who for some reason weren't very hungry last night.

Today, work brought me to my general neighborhood. So, I thought I would swing by and let the dogs out, and use my own facilities while I was here, ….. Oh and why not just check my email while it's just right here and ….
Now, 15 minutes later email has become myspace, five blogs, and a trip to Espn.com, and as you can tell, my blog. Plus, it's 3:00 and it's really warm in the room and lunch is starting to work on me, and the bed….the bed is only three feet away!
I have GOT to get out of here.

When you get a chance, you should see this movie. It's one of my favorites. When you get the chance, you should also go to imdb.com and see just who all was in this movie.
The most notable that was the inspiration for this post is Isaiah Washington. In Out of Sight he played a hired thug named Kenneth who was the brother-in-law of Don Cheadle's character. What you may have seen him as recently is Dr. Preston Burke on Grey's Anatomy. Two totally different characters; enough that I didn't even make the connection until this morning.
Michael Keaton is excellent in his limited role. The acting of Albert Brooks, however, is deplorable. If this guy can make it in more than one movie, why can't I be in at least one?

It's the name of a book by Dr. James Dobson. The point of the book is to help one understand what is involved in trying to build confidence in your child. I haven't gotten too far into the book yet, as it seems I'm reading about four other books at the same time.
The insight has also started me thinking about myself. In retrospect, I can see how the underlying need in all of us to feel loved and accepted has steered my thinking and decisions throughout my life. If you really scrutinize your past, you can see how your Id has been attracted and repelled by your perceptions of how certain people felt about you at certain times, and what your particular personal needs were at the time.
The idea is that if you actively observe your child as he grows and are involved as you should be you can see the icebergs in the child's path and help steer them out of the way or at least be standing close by with the lifeboats when the icebergs do hit.
I wonder how it will affect myself moving forward with the same insight.

Well, it looks like I'm going back there in the morning.
A guy called this afternoon wanting to get setup before this weekend.

That's the name of a Scottish band that I've liked for about four years or so. I bought their album Fit? at a Tower Records store back in 2001. Tower has a great International section btw. I had the album and just kind of put them on the shelf of my mind and just lived with the one album. Well, in 2003 they came out with another album, The Gab O Mey, that I just go around to buying, and it's all I've been listening to the past four days.
They have a very smooth sound at times. You can tell that they are very talented. They are very tight with their ensembles. Lead singer Jim Malcolm is a true baritone, which is not only in my vocal range ; ), but gives their sound a very round, full flavor.
It seems about half of their songs are instrumentals, so if you are like Shannon and feel that the really great music is reserved for those songs that include the lyrical component, then you might not like them very much. If you think you might like to sample some music of the Scots that isn't necessarily all bagpipes and jigs, then give Old Bling Dogs a try.
The only thing that I am starting to regret is the fact that I went ahead and downloaded it off of iTunes instead of making the trek over to Tower to see if I could get a copy of the actual CD.

I've pretty much decided that the older I get, and the more weight I gain, that I just get more and more funny lookin'.
It's just a fact of life, that I have to embrace.
And, for those that may not have noticed, it's been hot. It's been 100° the past two days. Add that to the fact that I've needed a hair cut for the past week or so, and this is what I decided to do last night. And here's a shot from the back.
It's a #1 around the sides, and the top is a #5. The last time that I had it this short was very early into my Freshman year of college. For those of you that went with me to ETBU that year, you can see a younger picture in the school annual of me with even a little shorter hair.
I liked it better then. I have evil plans of maybe putting a Mach 3 to it when Shannon gets used to it being short, and my head gets a little more used to actually seeing the sun.
I like the fact that the total amount of time spent on hair in the morning is about the 20 seconds it takes to rub in a good lather on the little bit of shampoo needed and rinsing it off.
I don't like the fact that I look like some white trash wrestler wanna be.
At least my cap fits better!

My brother turned 18 today.
As of today, my brother has to register for the draft. My brother can now buy tobacco products. Today, my brother can vote.
This may not be a big deal for some. My brother, however, is 10 years my junior. I have many, many childhood memories prior to my brother even being in existence.
I'm proud of him. He will graduate high school next month. He has a pretty good handle on what he wants to study in college and do as a career.
Today, my brother is the closest he has ever been to my peer, and he gets closer every day.
